A rescue mission is underway to save three people who became trapped by falling debris after a cliff they were sitting under crumbled onto them south-west of Melbourne.
Part of the cliff collapsed about 2.15pm near Southside Beach, a nude beach not far from Bells Beach, on New Year’s Eve.
Three people were injured as rocks and debris fell on them from 30 metres above, close to the Jarosite Mine Track at Southside Beach.
All three injured beachgoers are in their 20s.

Police said six people were sitting under the cliff when it collapsed, with debris falling on three people.
Ambulance Victoria paramedics rushed to the scene to assist the injured.
A man and a woman suffered non-life threatening injuries.
No-one else was hurt.
