Introduction to Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC)
On Feb 11, 2019, I had just finished my tenure at Bitfinex and Tether. As I interacted more and more with law enforcement across the world, they all kept asking me about how do people using cryptocurrency, trust one another. They idea that the government not being in control of the money supply was completely foreign. I kept digging and found a cryptocurrency I had never heard about, CBDC. Turns out, it’s not a crypto, it’s a type of digital asset. Below is a presentation I created to help better understand what CBDCs are, and how far some countries have gone to integrate them into society. Don’t forget, this presentation is from 2019, some of the information is outdated, however, some of the predictions I had made have come to pass.
